Kevin Smith, a professional wedding photographer based in Childswickham near Broadway, has been named Photographer of the Year for the second year running at the Midland Region of the British Institute of Professional Photographers Awards. The awards were judged and the trophy presented by leading U.K. photographers Pete Bristo and Alan Stone. The awards ceremony was held at the Lea Marston Hotel near Sutton Coldfield.

Kevin Smith was delighted to retain the prestigious award against such stiff competition. The judges agreed the standard of the entries was very high. Pete Bristo described Kevin's
work as being perfectly composed and exhibiting a high degree of quality, perfect sharpness and beautiful tonal range.

In addition to The Photographer of the Year Award, Kevin won awards for three wedding photographs, two landscape images and an advertising shot.

The winning photograph was taken in the area above Snowshill. " It is one of my very favorite locations" said Kevin, "the rise and fall of the hills, the coppices and fields have a rhythm that is just so pleasing to the eye. I had to be up at the crack of dawn on a very cold, frosty day in January to catch the perfect morning light braking through the mist. The place also has much significance for me as it is where I presented my wife Anthea with her engagement ring."
